Happy Sunday, Everyone!

It has been a "mid"-weekend with maybe 5 hours of hobbying, but I did finish the Templar squad. I was pleased with how the Sword Brother (left) came out. I've even posted an image of him on some of the painting sites and received some good & fun feedback. Sure, he's rusted up and heavily weathered but I think his eyes are the most interesting aspect. T be honest, that was a complete accident. I put some white in the eye socket and was just trying to dot the eyes and they came out beady which worked out extremely well for the psychotic nature of the Black Templars Chapter. These are not the kind of guys you invite to Thanksgiving and speak negatively of the God-Emperor. I still need to do a final pass on the entire squad to level out some of the weathering as well as unite color saturation... may be later.

The Rogue Trader is finally getting some love. I've blocked the model out with basic colors and am carefully weighing things like what color his hair will be, the frills on top of the hat, color of the skull on the hat, keeping his boots black or changing them to a dark brown. I trust the process but I can first hand say I didn't plan the model out completely and that's going to cost time but that's ok. While this guy isn't the strongest character to get stuck in battle with, he leads a decent retinue that can take objectives and enable redeployment of D3 units from myside. He is one of 3x Rogue Traders I will eventually have, each with their own unique retinue. When I get him further along in the painting process, I'll probably start assembling the rest of his crew.

By the way, the power sword does have an activation switch...

So now I need to do a photo shoot for the full Crusader Squad. I don't have a backing large enough for it so I'll have to think of something. In the future, I'll have to get a black cloth or non-glossy black construction paper for the backing. Alternatively, I could just use terrain that I've made/painted. Hmmmm...

Lastly, I'm moving soon! In about 3x weeks I'll lose my painting tables and will be using a box to paint on. The best part of it is I know I'll be staying in the next place for a long time and that means getting/building a wargames table again... maybe even two! It's going to be great having one again! More to follow!
