Happy New Year Everyone!!!
My home WIFI went down (like this downed Valkyrie) last weekend and the work week rolled over me right after so there's been very little progress after the new year started. To be honest, I have not touched a paint brush for nearly the last 5x days. However, I have spent plenty of time obsessing over the hobby; observing painting techniques, exploring Etsy, and looking into some other low-model count games.
If procrastination sounds like a familiar scenario and is a big reason as to why you don't hobby, don't be so hard on yourself. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves this is a hobby and not work... we should make an effort to not treat it the same. This is supposed to bring us joy at our own pace. I saw this sentiment on a reel and while it sounds pretty basic, it did have an impact on my thought process.

Anyways, I built a few models over the break. My fav is the Rogue Trader, featured to the right. I originally found the model in an expansion of Warhammer Quest and then kit bashed a pirate hat from a Kromlech Ork bit. It took probably 10 minutes of careful dremeling and I green stuffed some hair peaking out from under the hat. When I finally give him some attention with a paint brush, I don't think he will take very much time... the big question my Son and I have chatted about is whether the jacket should be red or blue. At the moment, I'm leaning towards blue.

The Inquisitor came out alright although I didn't finish him. There is an item on his belt which I left unpainted because I want to add a significant glow effect which will impact the right side of his torso. This basically means when I finally get around to painting glow effects I'll do a decent photo shoot for him. For now, feast your eyes on unfinished Coteaz...

On the table are 4x Black Templar Initiates... ugh, 4x hours today and still in the base coating stage. I hate batch painting. While it is supposed to be the most efficient... it robs some of the joy part for me. After this group is done I am definitely going back to one model at a time.
I'm going to end this blog short today... I have tons of things to share but it will have to wait. Sunday scaries are hitting hard today.
Work Work Work!
