Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Progress on the Inquisitor/Templar Crusade continues although not nearly as fast as I thought it was going to. Over the course of the week, I spent 2-3 days building models and kit-bashing ones I thought could have been better. It was only yesterday that I got around to putting paint on models and that is something I'd really like to take my time with.

In regards to Templar Initiate builds, I found that I did not have a huge drive/need in converting the models from their standard. I felt their poses were probably more important and I wanted the group to have a synergy when/if imaged on the gaming table. This meant a lot of blue-stuff and filing to get the arms and legs in the right positions. If anyone reading this is just starting out, always put the heads on last. That will drastically alter the narrative of a model or models in a group based on the pose.

To the left you can see how the squad turned out. Mind you, the previously painted Neophytes (x4) are also apart of this squad. When they're all painted up I'll take a combined "family photo".

I almost forgot to share with you the status of the Templar Suppressors which have undergone some moderate-level modifications. I say moderate based on the time it took to decide and affix Templar related iconography. Originally, I thought I was going to have longer robes and chains that met the base but that process would have taken a week and I'm not entirely sure that would have been worth it. So I added as much Templar related flair as I could and magnetized them to their bases. Note: I'm having second thoughts on their magnetization as they are a bit wonky when trying to keep them in any desired position (for instance, guns trained down range...)

Yesterday was all about the Officio Assassinorum. These models are like one-man armies on the table if used correctly. Which means they need some special care if they are going to be in the midst of some of the most gruesome fights. One model I am very proud of is the female assassin with the long hair. She didn't come out of the box designed quite like that. It was mainly the hair which needed to be modified. Drawing from inspiration from an old 90's cartoon, I kit bashed some bits from a Necromunda gang and voila... 10 times more bad ass.

Moving along... the model you see centered is Inquisitor Torquemada Coteaz, a named-character in Warhammer 40k. I did not have to put him together but he is "fine cast" which means there is a lot of extra resin to carve off. I spent around an hour doing so but I think it was totally worth it. What you can also see in the image is the size difference between an above average human model and a Primaris space marine. Note: a Primaris is 8-10ft tall. Coteaz is currently on the painting bench ... he will be the next model you see completed.

The Forge World (legacy) Downed-Valkyrie is one of my side-quests. Made of resin, it did take some work to prepare and I had to pin the wing to the fuselage in 2x places. My Son refers to this model as a "flex piece" because you can't even find it on ebay and you had to be apart of the hobby a decade ago to get your hands on it. In any case, I'm slowly giving it attention. After a light grey primer I applied a base coat of Army Painter brown contrast paint. From there, I intend to use an olive drab green equivalent and further dry brush it a slightly lighter shade before attacking it with various Villainy-ink washes. It will make a great addition to the terrain collection not to mention a wonderful center-board objective marker.

***Time to get painting! Have a wonderful day and a better week!***
